Coleman Camping Table for Cooking and Other Stuff

Now that I have the Coleman cook top, I needed a camping table to put it on. What better table than a Coleman camping table. The only problem is there are so many different types and configurations of camping tables that a gal can become overwhelmed. To prevent table overload, I had to stop and think about my needs and what I expected from the table.

List of Needs

Coleman Camping Table Needs:

Below are a few things I needed for my table to do:

  • Work as a base for the Coleman cooktop
  • It had to be lightweight. With van travel, each ounce counts. I didn’t want a heavy table to not only add weight to the van but since I had to take the table in and out of the van, I didn’t want to struggle to get it in and out.
  • Adjustable height. I needed a camping table with the ability to eat a meal with a regular sized chair and also use it as a desktop while sitting in bed. The legs had to be adjustable.
  • Large and small. I wanted the surface area to be large enough to fit a full meal for two people, but also small enough to use as a desktop in bed.
  • Compact and easy to assemble or adjust. I didn’t want to pull out a screwdriver and hammer in order to make adjustments. It also had to fold down small enough to store in the van.
  • Easy to clean.

Finding the Right Portable Table

With my needs listed, I navigated over to Amazon to see what I could find. What I found was the Coleman 4-in-1 Pack Away Table. It was perfect. It fit all of my needs and then some. It’s lightweight, compact, easy to assemble and adjustable.Coleman 4-in-1 Table

In essence, it’s two separate tables that can be connected to form a larger table. The legs are adjustable to three different heights. The Coleman Camping table also has leveling feet for those occasions when it’s set up on uneven ground. When I’m done using the table(s), it folds down into an easy to carry case.

Although they had the camping tables on Amazon, I actually purchased it from the Coleman website. It was significantly cheaper and Coleman offered free shipping for items over $49. They shipped the table immediately and I received it in a couple of days. Things couldn’t get any better than that until…

Happy Birthday Mom – Here’s A Coleman Portable Kitchen

My daughter bought the Coleman Portable Pack Away kitchen for me for my birthday! I can’t tell you how thrilled I was when I opened the box! Who says children don’t listen? I guess she’s been around me enough to hear me openly wish for things.Coleman Portable Kitchen

I couldn’t wait to set it up, so I did. Right in the living room. My 3-year-old grandson gave me a hand in setting it up. Once it was all set, I pulled out the Coleman cooktop and set that up too. No, I didn’t attach the propane tank, but my grandson and I did prepare make believe meals for everyone. He especially liked the fact that the cooktop was right at his level. That’s a good and not so good thing.

About the Coleman Portable Kitchen

First let me say, what I truly love about the Coleman portable kitchen is that it’s very easy to set up. If my grandson and I can set it up without reading instructions, anyone can set it up.

There are two sides to the portable kitchen. One side is for the cooktop and the other is a prep station. The cooktop side fits not only Coleman stoves, but it’s large enough to fit a variety of stoves and sturdy enough to fit a cooler. According to the description on Amazon, “the Pack-Away kitchen weighs 14.5 pounds and supports up to 300 pounds.” I don’t think I’ll place 300 pounds on it, but it’s weight capacity far exceeds what I need. The prep station is large enough (31.5″ x 21.3″) with a cloth mesh “shelf” beneath the prep table for storing items such as plates, cups, aluminum foil and the like.

The legs unlike the 4 in 1 table, are not adjustable. For me, the height is just fine, but I could see where the inability to adjust the legs might pose a problem on uneven camping grounds. There’s always a workaround so I don’t see it as a deal breaker.

Using all 3 Coleman Camping Tables

By using the combination of the 4 in 1 tables along with the portable kitchen, I’ve got more cooking space than I need. I can prep, chop, cook and serve without feeling crowded. I feel almost as comfortable as if I were in my own indoor kitchen.

Once the prep and cooking are done, I can use the 4 in 1 tables for serving and eating. If configured properly four people can sit at the tables to eat. Granted, the space won’t be as large as your at-home dining table, but for camping it’s great!
